Research interests include Internet multimedia protocols and technologies, distributed synchronised time, SmartGrid, Energy & Environmental Informatics, and Cybersecurity for Industrial Control Systems
My PhD focused on the potential for enhanced VoIP (Voice over IP) Quality of Service (QoS) through use of synchonised time. This research was carried out in conjunction with the Performance Engineering Laboratory (PEL) at School of Computer Science, University College Dublin. The PEL research group is primarily based at UCD and Dublin City University but has also a small (but growing) base at the Discipline of Information Technology, NUI,G (see Performance Engineering Laboratory (PEL@NUI,Galway) .
My industrial background is in Power Engineering Systems and this expertise and interest is reflected in my research within the broadly based Ryan Institute with particular focus on the Energy Research Centre at NUI,Galway .
See also OSNA Research for details of research into Cybersecurity for ICS.
